Muscle building supplements increase the amount of natural substances that the human body uses to build muscle. While not a magic solution, increasing the intake of many supplements can usually increase results.
The three most popular forms of muscle supplements are multi-vitamins, protein and creatine.
Multi-vitamins
o While fruits and vegetables contain many key vitamins, most people do not get enough through eating alone. Multi-vitamins make up for that deficiency by delivering many important amino acids and minerals, packaged in a pill.
Supplements with a high amount of Vitamin A help the body create the protein needed to create new muscle tissue. The varieties of Vitamin B regulate how the body stores food energy and delivers nutrients.
Protein
o Proteins are the building blocks of muscle, helping the body recover faster after a tough workout by building and repairing tissues. The body requires one to two grams of protein for every pound of body weight. Supplemental protein comes in the form of shakes and bars, with whey protein being the most effective type of protein for rapid muscle growth.
Creatine
o One of the most talked-about supplements for muscle building is creatine. Creatine is not a steroid. In fact, it is an amino acid occurring naturally in the body and is found commonly in milk.
Creatine helps the body build new muscle by boosting the levels of ATP, the primary source of energy in the body. During strenuous training such as weightlifting, however, creatine levels are often not enough to supply the body's needs.
Creatine supplements usually are taken in powdered form, mixed with juice or water. When taken after an intense workout, creatine can provide the boost that muscles need.
